The Space

Tucked away in the hills above Kandy, The Paddyfield Hideaway is a sanctuary from the noise and pollution of city life. The tall beautiful house overlooks paddy fields that have been cultivated by hand for the last seven hundred years.
Walking the quiet lane-ways of this rural idyll will bring you to a nearby Buddhist Meditation Centre, and through unspoilt jungle villages where you will see people drying out spices and living very traditional lives.
Guests have free use of the Octagon, a sublime space for calming down. Designed by an Irish poet in 2012 for meditation or yoga, for reading or writing, painting or playing a musical instrument.
Standing on the brow of a circular tea-garden, contoured with stone paths that prevent erosion in thunderstorms, the Octagon commands a view of wooded hills and cultivated valleys that will uplift your spirit.
We welcome the elderly or anyone in need of special care, and likewise children are welcome. All our water comes from our own deep spring well. We can provide full board, of traditional Sri Lankan cuisine at little more than the cost of the food.
it is not a place for those seeking action and nightly entertainment. It is a getaway from it all.
This is the home of a famous Irish poet.
